Domaine Trapet
Gevrey-Chambertin
Jean-Louis Trapet is an outstanding winegrower from Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte de Nuits, famous for his Pinot Noir wines. Together with his wife Andrée, he also runs the winery Trapet Alsace.
The portfolio includes impressive parcels ranging from village sites to the renowned Grand Crus such as Chapelle-Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin and Chambertin, with the work in the vineyard emphasising the differences between the sites in order to make them tangible in the wine.
The wines are characterised by precision, elegance and clear terroir expressions. One highlight is the Gevrey-Chambertin, a cuvée from eight parcels that combines finesse and power and impresses with its fine-grained tannins. The natural wine "A Minima", made from Pinot Noir and Gamay without the addition of sulphur, honours Julez Chauvet. The Chardonnays from Marsannay are also gaining increasing recognition.
The Grand Cru sites are fragmented into small parcels due to historical inheritance, so Trapet only owns 0.6 hectares in Chapelle-Chambertin. Le Chambertin, a legendary wine, comes from just under two hectares in three parcels, some of which have vines over 100 years old, and is considered the epitome of the rarity and quality that characterise Trapet's wines.
